Bacup Carnival, 27th June 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Having heard that the Bacup Carnival was back in town, Dan decided that Round Table were going to have a float and show these valley boys a thing or two about floats!  After dismissing the cavemen theme, we decided on Cowboys & Indians as our theme and the green light was duly given.

bacupfloat1Having picked up the flatbed float on the Friday, Becky Hatton unleashed a vast array of creative fabulousness for decoration upon us, and whilst Dan strapped a generator to the underside of the float to power our playlist, Ebony, Becky, Duncan, Mark, Paul and his 2 helpers set to work decorating.

bacupfloat3Come the morning, it was a glorious sunny day, and our float was well packed with kids of all ages representing the two warring factions.  Duncan messed around with the amp & speakers (courtesy of The Crimpolenes) and takes the full blame for the string of country hits that followed us around Bacup ... the hill-billy version of Alice Cooper's Poison was particularly well received.

Our boys & girls ensured that no Bacup resident was left untouched by our array of water weaponry as we pumped water pistols at all bystanders, both eager and reluctant.  Umar (who appeared to have robbed a fancy dress shop on his way down) and Rob assumed principle photography duties, as Mr Leach didnt appear to have made it out of the saloon from the previous evening (perhaps taking his role as the Western drunk too seriously).

2 hours later and we completed our circuit - huge congratulations to Becky for her creative genius, and all our gallant participants.  Next year, maybe a pirate theme to match our water pistols?
