Watersports in the Reservoir! |
On a grey and slightly drizzly evening in Whitworth, a band of 20 rubber suited individuals gathered to be dragged at speed behind a speedboat.
The weapon of choice was to be death by banana boat or rubber ring. As everyone who was catapulted off the banana boat can testify, the water was suprisingly warm and pleasant, and whilst one group were being towed around the reservoir, others were pushing each other off the pier whenever possible.
The fact the banana boat and double rings kept deflating was apparently down to a slow puncture, and not the combined weight of 6 overweight tablers. The rubber rings proved even more fun, up until the point Dan managed to take the handles off when he came off, and then Roo finished the job, by turning a state-of-the-art tow ring, into basically an inner tube.
Lynne, Becky & Caroline did a sterling job over by the BBQ, turning out meaty sustenance as required, and as darkness fell, Mark turned up. Apparently he'd had a tough journey, and had nothing to do with the fact he didnt want to be photographed in a wetsuit and drowned.
Same time next year? A few more photos can be found on our Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/qjzOmp |

Round Table Spice Night raises £1,400 for local causes |
Rossendale Round Table held its very popular Spice Night social evening on Thursday 9th June 2011. Tickets and a raffle raised £750 which was split equally between Rossendale Hospice, the Rossendale Rays and Tess Sullivan. A Sports Memorabilia Auction raised £685 for Tess Sullivan. You can see the photos from the evening on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/rossendale.
We were joined by 60 guests who had all come out to have a good time and support local causes. The evening was a massive success. Everyone had a fun night, the food was excellent and we were able to present our chosen causes with cheques for £250 each.

Bacup & Stacksteads Carnival Super Fruity! |
We had a fantastic time at the Bacup and Stacksteads Carnival on Sunday 26th June.
Glorious sunshine brought out the crowds and we had people queuing to have a go on the Human Fruit Machine.
We had one family that had three goes for a pound and won on each one – completely unprecedented!
It was great to see so many people out supporting a well organised community event. See you all there again next year!
